This workshop began when a local organization serving human trafficking survivors invited me to facilitate an art program. To me, creativity has always been a powerful gateway for processing complex memories and fostering restoration. Recognizing the profound resilience of these individuals, I felt moved to provide more than basic technical instruction. I envisioned a path toward renewal, designing a curriculum focused on introspection and rebirth.

 

Our sessions explored how to reconcile the past, ground ourselves in the present, and look toward a hopeful, validated future. It became a transformative journey; witnessing participants reclaim their agency and find the courage to share with one another. The art showcased below are the actual paintings of these survivors. Three individual works, compiled into one finished piece meant to communicate the struggle of the past, the process of the present and the hope towards the future, all inlaid with gold, unified.

Today, I have expanded this curriculum to be accessible both in person and through a virtual platform. My goal is to make this restorative opportunity available to anyone seeking it, regardless of geographic location.
